Chuan Garden has got to be our most avantgarde project thus far! The clients came to us with a simple brief. The house, while formal and serious has to have a playful and fun side- and they really wanted an Art Deco Bar! Yes you heard that right, an all out- art deco bar in their basement!

The Art Deco Aesthetic is not for the faint hearted! The geometric patterns and luxurious bronze cladded trimmings can feel very opulent for everyday life. As such the decision was to reimagine the dark utilitarian basement as an underground Art Deco heaven. One is immediately greeted by our intricately built curved bar and contrasting black and white geometric tiles. The same Art Deco aesthetics run throughout the entire basement floor plate - into the Lounge room (affectionately referred to as the cigar room by our designers) and the basement gym.

1st Storey carries hint of the same Art Deco aesthetic but more subtly so. The same intricate ceiling design is carried through for consistency but instead of going for gold trimings and high geometric patterns, we opted to bring in pops of colours in the form of an outdoor mural and commissioned painting. These pops of colour weave a playful vibrant air into an otherwise more formal Modern Contemporary home.
