A LIGHT EASY BREEZY HOME
INTERIOR DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION
We surprised the owners of this home with an entirely brand-new layout and a new way of living, not an easy feat after one has been acclimatised to the space for more than 30 years.
The large dry kitchen was created from part of the old study, kitchen and bathroom. We opened the floor plate to allow light and seamless flow of space while demarcating a hierarchy for the different zones of activities.
The heart of every home is its kitchen, and this is one of the biggest kitchen we have built. Flanked by carpentry and all 4 sides, this kitchen is built for storage and for performance. Its long island allows one to cook up a storm while entertaining hungry guests. Better yet, it is also neatly linked to the back kitchen via a beautiful, fluted door on the left.
A double leaf glass door opens into the dining area which also overlooks the open garden. The owners had beautiful landscaping around the house, and it would be a waste to not allow that visual continuity from the inside.
The living room with its white lattice windows and hints of cream and wood makes for a nice contrast against the old granite floor that we kept from the original home.
