The owners of this home resided in Hongkong for a while and owned quite a number of Chinese furniture. In our discussions, we shared a common love for the shophouse typology, its authenticity and how culture and heritage is woven into the physicality through bricks and mortar.

 

Then it landed on us - What if we could weave the Chinoiserie language into the design of home through clever use of materials and stylised carpentry.

We set out to fuse the trimmings and moldings of the West with Chinese handles and details. One of our favourites was incorporating the Jade green tiles as cupboard doors. 

​

We rarely get clients who wants a Modern Chinoise home, so when it came to it - we naturally jumped at it and had a ball of time with the details.
